HISTORY

Bridge Boston’s founding group came together due to their long-held commitment to serving the children of Boston. Many of our founding Board members had been closely involved with Epiphany School, a private tuition-free middle school serving about 90 children in Dorchester who are living in poverty. The group sought to extend the ethos of Epiphany into the public school world in order to serve more students, leverage state tuition revenues, share best practices, and consider possible replication.

Bridge Boston was chartered in February 2011 and opened in September of 2011. Today, we have 335 students enrolled in pre-Kindergarten to eighth grade.

Home

Our intention is to build a thriving school community that brings together students, staff, families and volunteers in support of the development and well-being of our students. We envision a school that is deeply rooted in the surrounding community where many of our students live. On 2.35 acres in the heart of Roxbury, we have over 30,000 square feet of space. Our neighborhood includes community organizations and potential for partnerships to support our school and the surrounding community.

The design of our school—with features such as a natural light filled atrium, full-service kitchen, gymnasium, 20ft ficus tree, and customized music and art spaces—is intended to complement the work of our staff and academic programming.
